# Item and creature artwork

Artwork is sourced from image URLs already recorded in Server Monitor's
[ARK Official Community Wiki](https://ark.wiki.gg/) crafting and cloning snapshots.
The [artwork manifest](../icon-data.json) lists the original image URL and wiki
file page for each item and creature, along with the locally hosted thumbnail.
Consult those file pages for individual author and licensing notices.

Game artwork belongs to Studio Wildcard and its respective creators and rights
holders. It is separate from the wiki article/data license; this project does
not claim ownership of the images or apply its code license to them. See the

Changes: images are proportionally fitted onto a transparent 192 x 192 canvas
and compressed as WebP thumbnails. They are used to identify items and creatures
in calculator suggestions, results, and resource lists. Missing or unavailable
artwork uses a generic interface icon. No creature variant artwork is inferred
from a different creature's name.

Refresh with `npm run data:update:images` after updating the calculator snapshots.
Existing thumbnails are reused; failed downloads are omitted from the new
manifest and listed as unavailable. Rebuild and restart the website after a refresh.

endorsed by, or sponsored by Studio Wildcard.
