## Creature values

Numerical creature facts are extracted from the game by
[Project Purlovia](https://github.com/arkutils/Purlovia) and published by
[Project Obelisk](https://github.com/arkutils/Obelisk/tree/master/data/asb).
We select standard creature profiles, merge ASA's blueprint-keyed delta with
the base ASB export, and keep separate ASA and ASE snapshots. This is factual
game data; it is not a claim that Studio Wildcard's assets are MIT licensed.
Purlovia's extraction software is LGPL-3.0; none of that software is distributed
in these tools.

Each creature snapshot records its fetch time, upstream export version, source
URLs and SHA-256 checksums. A recent fetch does not guarantee that the upstream
export covers every patch, creature, expansion or server configuration.

## Food data and equations

Food profiles and taming equations are adapted from
[ARK Smart Breeding by cadon and contributors](https://github.com/cadon/ARKStatsExtractor),
specifically `ARKBreedingStats/json/tamingFoodData.json`, `Taming.cs` and `Ark.cs`.
Copyright (c) 2015 cadon. Used under the [MIT License](ASB-LICENSE.txt), included
alongside this notice. The web implementation validates inputs, limits output,
selects supported standard knockout tames and reformats the original data.
The two built-in 2x taming changes (4x affinity) are included, as in ASB.

Imprinting is an estimate based on ASB's care interval and gain approach. A
schedule assumes immediate care; missed requests, rounding, traits, mods and
single-player settings are not simulated. The juvenile milestone is 10% of the
growth period. Eggs must remain at a valid temperature for uninterrupted progress.

## Boss requirements and map links

Tribute tables are adapted from
[ARK Official Community Wiki contributors](https://ark.wiki.gg/wiki/Boss_Arenas)
under [CC BY-NC-SA 4.0](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0/).
`bosses.json` identifies the specific arena pages and revision numbers.
The tables are normalized to per-difficulty item lists and player-level values;
portal recipes are not a complete battle preparation guide. These are the
shared tables on the cited arena pages, which may not distinguish every
ASA/ASE change. Unlisted encounters and mission gates are not inferred.

Artifact jumps use the selected game's existing atlas snapshot; when an artifact
has several locations the first matching source location is linked. If no
matching coordinates are available, the wiki artifact page is linked instead.
Explorer progress is a browser-local record of notes, artifacts and cave visits,
not a synchronized record of an in-game survivor. See the
[map attribution](../maps/ATTRIBUTION.md) for map data and artwork credits.

Refresh the snapshots with `npm run data:update:planners`. The update script
stops on download errors or unexpected tribute table structures.

## Raising-food estimates

The food-drain interpolation is adapted from ASB's
[`uiControls/Trough.cs`](https://github.com/cadon/ARKStatsExtractor/blob/master/ARKBreedingStats/uiControls/Trough.cs)
(source blob `d70a04b9826196320d16f4524ad67ba49e081c82`, MIT).
The selected game's export supplies `foodConsumptionBase` and
`babyFoodConsumptionMult`. The planner integrates the changing rate over the
chosen growth window, simulates equally fresh food stacks, and adds a separate
conservative spoilage/supply margin. It does not simulate inventory capacity,
stasis, other tames using the stock, traits or special feeding mechanics.

Common food values and spoil intervals are adapted from wiki contributors:
[Breeding](https://ark.wiki.gg/wiki/Breeding?oldid=605235),
[Spoilage](https://ark.wiki.gg/wiki/Spoilage?oldid=605309), and
[Feeding Trough](https://ark.wiki.gg/wiki/Feeding_Trough?oldid=565445), checked
2026-10-23, CC BY-NC-SA 4.0. Values are reformatted into defaults which users can
override. Normal-trough defaults must be changed for Tek troughs, map effects,
mods or different server spoil multipliers. Fresh-stack timing is an estimate;
the food-check reminder is placed at 80% of the estimated coverage window.

Creature lineage entries are user records. Observed stats and ancestry counters
are not treated as a calculation of actual inherited mutations.
